1. Cats want a large, open litter box.
First, they should be able to step into the box easily. Also, cats should easily be able to move around without touching the side of the box.
2. The cat litter box should be far from food and water.
By keeping the cat litter and food/water at a distance, you avoid cross-contamination and lessen the chances of your cat getting sick. This is hopefully a fairly low-traffic area of your home with some privacy.
3. Scoop twice a day and deep clean twice a month.
Put simply, cats want a clean, dry litter box. Twice a day ensures just that. A deep washing of the litter box can be done less frequently to eliminate odors and buildup.
